I am Janet P. Penley, founder of Mothers of Many Styles and author of MotherStyles. I have led more than 600 workshops on personality type and mothering issues, nationally, since 1988. I consider myself a “momologist” and a champion of feminine wisdom. My mission is to support mothers in being their best and truest selves by letting go of the myths of motherhood and discovering and embracing their natural strengths.
My expertise is based on over 18 years of research, study, and hundreds of in-depth interviews with women. The mother of two (son, 26; daughter, 23), I have used personality type information in my own parenting (my son is my exact opposite personality type!) and built a loyal following of mothers, life coaches, therapists, and corporations who use my materials. I have been interviewed on TV and radio shows around the country, and my work has been featured in Baby Talk magazine, Woman’s Day, Family Circle, the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Parent, Seattle Times and over 100 other newspapers.
I hold a BA in Psychology from Washington University, an MBA from University of Michigan, and am qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® Instrument. A thirty-year resident of Chicago, I recently moved to San Antonio, Texas with my husband.
